Sh. Jawahar Lal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of free India: He was born at Allahabad on 14thNovember 1889 ", because of his affection toward children every year his birthday celebrated as (Children’s Day) Bal Diwas. His father Moti Lal Nehru was a famous lawyer. In his family there were total five members his father, his mother, his two sisters and him. Jawahar lal Nehru was an only boy and eldest in his family. Earlier he was educated in the hands of the English. He was sent to England for higher education, he completed his law degree from University of Cambridge, in -1912 he returned to India. He met Mahatma Gandhi and joined Indian National Congress. He started taking part in politics, He was married to Shrimati Kamla Devi. He. was arrested several times during the rule of the English. He took part in the Quit India Movement and got India free on August 15, 1947. He was a great leader, teacher and writer. He worked for his country. In his life he was send jail 9 times. He wanted world peace. The children called -him Chacha Nehru.

Nehru had a daughter, Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi considered her father as her guru, she had taught the politics of the country from Nehru ji. He had closely watched the freedom struggle of the country since childhood. This was the reason that she also had great love for the country. Indira ji became the first woman prime minister of the independent country. Indira ji's main contribution was to advance and strengthen the country of India.

At the time of India's independence in 1947, elections were held for the Prime Minister's claim in the Congress, in which Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Acharya Kriplani got the most votes. But on the request of Gandhiji, Jawaharlal Nehru was appointed as the first Prime Minister of India. After this Nehru became the Prime Minister of India thrice.

After independence, Nehru ji performed the task of building the foundation of a strong nation by leading India properly. He also made a very important contribution to make India financially fearless. Built a strong foundation of the dream of modern India. He created the 'Non-Aligned' movement for peace and organization. Despite their hard work, they could not maintain friendly relations with Pakistan and China.        


He died of heart-attack on May 27, 1964. He wrote two famous books namely Discovery of India and Glimpses of World 1, History.
