Diwali is one of the most popular festivals of Hindus which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy. It is the biggest festival celebrated by Hindus for five days. The festival of Diwali is celebrated not only in our country but also abroad, from this its prominence can be traced. On this day, even though it is a black new moon night, the whole of India is lit up with lights. The festival of Diwali symbolizes the victory of truth over falsehood and the victory of light over darkness.

This festival is not only a symbol of religious faith but also has social, spiritual, mythological, historical and economic importance. This festival works to increase social unity. However, there is another aspect to the festival of Diwali, which we have been promoting year after year for our enjoyment. That other aspect is fireworks and bursting of firecrackers. Diwali is one of the most sacred festivals of Hindus living in India and around the world, popularly known as Diwali. Deepawali is made up of two Sanskrit words – Deep + Avali. 'Deep' means 'lamp' and 'avali' means 'series', which means series of lamps or row of lamps. There are many stories of celebrating Deepawali, but we all know that on the day of Deepawali, Lord Rama along with Sita Maiya and Lakshmana came back to Ayodhya city after killing Ravana.

Then the residents of the city cleaned the city of Ayodhya in the joy of his arrival, due to the night of Amavasya, it is very dark, due to which the entire Ayodhya was decorated with lamps and flowers on that day, Ayodhya was decorated as a bride for Shri Ram. So that there is no problem in the arrival of Lord Rama. Since then, this tradition has been going on till date. To dispel the intense darkness of Kartik Amavasya, lamps are lit and the house, courtyard and everywhere are lit up. The preparations for the Diwali festival begin several days before Diwali.
  

Many days before Deepawali, people start cleaning their homes because it is believed that in those houses which are clean, on the day of Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi is seated and by providing her blessings, there is happiness. - Increases prosperity. As Diwali approaches, people start decorating their homes with lamps and different types of lights. Deepawali is the festival of eradicating the darkness inside and making the whole environment light. We have to understand that the festival of Deepawali means lamp, love and happiness and prosperity. Children buy bombs, sparklers and other firecrackers as per their wish and enjoy the fireworks.

The festival of Diwali is a symbol of cultural and social harmony. Due to this festival, social unity remains among the people even today. Hindi litterateur Gopaldas Neeraj has also said, "Light the lamp, keep your attention so, that darkness should not remain anywhere on the earth." Therefore, efforts should be made to promote love and harmony on Deepotsav i.e., Deepawali.
